Anna Merz is a PhD researcher in criminology at the Erasmus School of Law. Anna was born in Germany and moved to the Netherlands in 2016 for her master. She completed her Bachelor in Sociology at Mannheim University (Germany) and obtained her Master’s in Global Criminology at Utrecht University in November 2017. She began her PhD research in September 2018.

In her PhD research, Anna explores processes of peer-group labelling in the context of corporate deviance. She will focus on responses and framings of rule-violations by employees in the financial sector and the energy market. Her qualitative PhD research aims to provide insights in the norms and values of business communities and extent the applicability of the labelling approach to the field of corporate deviance.
