Eleonora Di Molfetta’s PhD research examines the impact of the merger between rationales of migration control and crime control on sentencing and corrections of offenders without a legal residence permit. Her multidisciplinary and cross-jurisdictional research focuses on three main grounds, namely sentencing decision-making processes, sentencing outcomes and detention conditions among offenders without a legal residence permit compared to citizens. The aim of her empirical research is discovering if the criminal justice system delivers ‘just’ sentencing to foreign national offenders.
